How to Fix 2020 Tesla Model 3 TPMS Fault with Launch TPMS 5011 V2

This guide explains how to diagnose and clear an active TPMS fault on a 2020 Tesla Model 3 using Launch Creader TPMS 5011 V2 / 511S V2. It covers identifying a faulty tire pressure sensor, programming a replacement Launch 433MHz sensor, completing the OBD relearn procedure, and verifying the repair with a road test.

Step 1: Diagnose the Faulty TPMS Sensor

Power on Launch TPMS 5011 V2.

Select TPMS → Tesla → Model 3 → 2016/01–2020/08 (433MHz) [103460200A]

Select Active and trigger the four wheels one by one.

The Front Right (FR), Rear Right (RR), and Rear Left (RL) sensors respond normally. The Front Left (FL) sensor produces no signal, confirming that its sensor battery is depleted and the sensor needs to be replaced.

Step 2: Program the Replacement Sensor
Remove the failed factory TPMS sensor from the FL wheel.
On the scanner, enter Learning to check the compatible sensor part number.

Select Programming, then choose Auto to generate a new sensor ID.

The tool also supports Manual programming and Copy by OBD cloning.

Place the Launch TPMS tool close to the blank sensor and wait for the programming process to reach 100%.

Step 3: Install and Activate the New Sensor
Install the programmed Launch sensor into the FL wheel assembly and inflate the tire to the OEM-recommended pressure.

Select Active on the TPMS tool to trigger the newly programmed FL sensor and confirm that it is transmitting data normally.

Step 4: Perform OBD Relearn and Road Test
Enter Learning, select OBD Relearn, and follow the on-screen instructions.

After locking the vehicle and leaving it stationary for approximately 20 minutes, use the tire pressure reset function on the vehicle’s central control screen.

Then perform a road test at a speed above 25 km/h. Continue driving until the TPMS warning light goes out and the tire pressure values are displayed normally.

The TPMS relearning process is now complete.
